Switching it Up: Yoga

I think it’s really important to switch up your workouts from time to time, especially if you typically are a “strictly running” type of person like myself. Personally, I get very intimidated going into a gym and trying to use machines that I don’t know how to work. To avoid the embarrassment (although this is really something I need to work on), I usually go for a yoga sequence that I find online to switch things up. Yoga is great for both your body and mind, which is why I’ve gotten really into practicing it. My mind runs 1000 miles/hour, so dedicating even just 25 minutes to focus on my breathing and what my body is telling me is a necessity.

I’ve decided to share with you all one of my favorite yoga videos. The practice is made for runners and helps to balance the repetitive actions of running. It focuses on strength and flexibility which can in turn help to enhance your running performance. I have my own yoga mat at home, and I prefer to practice yoga before I am about to sleep. I usually light a candle, dim the lights, and quiet my surroundings. The result is surreal. Seriously, if you haven’t tried yoga already, or even if you have, I highly recommend checking out this video!

  1. @alyssasrunningaddiction , great post! You’re right. Switching it up is important in athletic success no matter what level runner you are. I was introduced to incorporating yoga into my training, in college and attend a class once a week now. Glad to hear that other runners love yoga as much as I do! ๐Ÿ™‚ Feel free to follow my new running blog! ๐Ÿ™‚ https://runningvibesblog.wordpress.com/
